MBSR for Parents (English)

“Gratitude turns what we have into enough, and enough into abundance.”

Melody Beattie

This version of the MBSR – Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program has been thoughtfully adapted for parents, recognizing the unique challenges and emotional demands of raising children. Parenting often involves continuous multitasking, emotional intensity, and little time for self-care. In this adaptation, sessions are explored within the context of family life, bringing awareness, patience, and compassion to everyday interactions with children. The program supports parents in cultivating presence amid the busyness of daily routines, responding rather than reacting to challenges, and fostering a nurturing environment grounded in balance, empathy, and connection.

It’s part of the program
• Guided mindfulness meditation
• Mindful movements
• Personalized instruction and group sharing
• Audios with guided meditation for personal practice
• Course manual

In this course we will learn:

• To integrate mindfulness into family communication, fostering empathy and understanding.
• How mindfulness can help reduce stress and emotional overload in parenting, supporting overall well-being.
• To become more aware of our thoughts and emotions in family life and relate to them with kindness.
• To respond to our children with more choice and calm, rather than reacting automatically.
• How to bring mindfulness into daily family routines and interactions.
• To practice and apply mindfulness techniques for self-care and balanced parenting.

Duration
The program consists of eight sessions of 2h each over 8 weeks, plus a 6h retreat day, usually between the sixth and seventh session.

Session 1 – Introduction to mindfulness
Session 2 – Perception
Session 3 – Doing Mode vs Being Mode
Session 4 – Stress reactivity
Session 5 – Responding with mindfulness
Session 6 – Difficult communications
Retreat day
Session 7 – Taking care of myself
Session 8 – Keeping mindfulness alive

Please note: In-person sessions are reserved for adults only. Some exceptions can be made for babies up to 3 months. Please speak with the teacher in advance. For online sessions, parents may attend with their child present, though this can make it more challenging to fully follow the program. Whenever possible, we recommend arranging for someone to care for your child during the session to support your focus and learning.
